Amole Gupte is an Indian screenwriter, actor and director, particularly known for his work on the 2007 Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par (2007) as creative director and screenwriter. He is also associated with acclaimed films like Stanley Ka Dabba (2011) and Hawa Hawai (2014). As an actor, he has made waves with his portrayal of Bhope Bhau in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey. He has also acted in other films like Singham Returns, Phas Gaya Re Obama, Bheja Fry 2 and Urumi.
Amole won the 2008 Filmfare Award for Best Story for Taare Zameen Par, 2009 Guild Award for Best Screenplay for Taare Zameen Par and 2010 Guild Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for Kaminey. He was the chairperson of the Children’s Film Society, India from 2012 to 2015. And presently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Kautik International Student Film Festival.
